I've just made a car rental booking at the Airport of Rome Ciampino based on the information that say 200euro deposit by DEBIT CARD, would be taken at the pick up, now the confirmation has come through it says 1000 euro on credit card only. Which is correct?

The vouchers have a lot of generic information on them, so that's what might confuse you. Your voucher states clearly 200 euro deposit! You can find this information on the website under PAYMENT after you clicked on IMPORTANT INFORMATION at the right hand side of the car photo.

I've looked at the important information section, but even hire companies I know will accept debit cards like Goldcar show up as not accepting debit cards, is there another way to find this information?

Please note, the deposit amount will be charged if using a debit card and associated transactions fees may apply. Debit cards cannot be used for fullsize, premium or luxury vehicles. On my booking reference email it states "credit card in the name of the lead driver" as I don't have a credit card I'm just concerned that I will be turned away without a rental car.

Yes, you need a card in name of the main driver, wether it's a Credit or Debit Card. Te card holder must be there when the car is collected.
